Lugar on Affirmative Action

From an interview with NH-Primary members conducted on September 13, 1995

I have pointed out in the Iowa Caucus and at the Christian Coalition that it is self defeating for us to engage in wedge issues and specifically to use the affirmative action and immigration issues to condemn ethnic groups, women or anyone else who might be perceived as a beneficiary of governmental or voluntary action in our country.
