All human life -- including the life of innocent, pre-born children -- is sacred and deserving of protection under the law. As a congressman from "safe" Democrat congressional districts that polled pro-abortion, Dornan nevertheless passed laws that eliminated federal funding for abortions in military hospitals, in the District of Columbia, in federal prisons and on Native American Indian reservations. Dornan has not only been a pro-life leader in Congress, but for 30 years on TV and on radio speaking on every life-related issue from RU486 and fetal tissue experimentation to blocking human embryo research. He has consistently been a sponsor of a constitutional human life amendment and a supporter of legislation, finally passed by the House, to provide a $5,000 tax credit for adoption while continuing the fight to eliminate the tax deduction for abortions.

Dornan will unrelentingly oppose any attempt to remove the pro-life plank from the Republican platform in July of 1996.
