Blazing Saddles: Fair Winds Farm Gives Equine Students a Leg Up
COLSA alumni Mark C. Mullen '79 and Laura Bowering Mullen '80, are the
driving forces behind the Fair Winds Farm Equine Scholarship Fund for
UNH undergraduates interested in a career in the Standardbred and Thoroughbred
racing industry. Fair Winds is a 750-acre horse farm and breeding facility
located in Cream Ridge, NJ that also provides reproductive services for
client mares bred to stallions throughout the northeast. The UNH Department
of Animal and Nutritional Sciences maintains a light horse center and
offers an equine program with courses in management, equine diseases,
equine discipline, and horsemanship specializing in dressage and combined
training.
