UNH alumni received a packet with information about the goals of the campaign
and how to contribute.
"This is the most ambitious fund-raising effort in the university's history," says Young P. Dawkins III, UNH Foundation president. "This campaign is about the future of public education in New Hampshire and what it can mean for the next generations of scholars and learners. We're asking all of our alumni and friends to help us meet our $100 million goal."
The mailing showcases a color photograph of a sunrise by noted UNH photographer,
filmmaker and author, Gary Samson, who is known for his work on New Hampshire
history and culture. "We're excited to let everyone know that this
is a campaign worthy of their support, and we're equally happy to be able
to provide a beautiful image that captures the spirit and essence of our
effort," says Dawkins.
In April, the Next Horizon Campaign surpassed the halfway mark in its
drive to raise $100 million by 2004. Alumni interest has been a major
factor in the success to date,
but campaign leaders stress that there is still a long way to go. While
UNH is ranked last in the nation for public funding of higher education,
it also attracts world-class
scholars, teachers, and researchers.
All contributors have the option of supporting one of the four goals
of the campaign: student scholarship, faculty support, academic programs,
and learning tools and technology. Donors also can opt to have the University
direct their gift to a particular area.
