
When staff members’ actions are so destructive or detrimental that they can not be tolerated, the staff member may be terminated immediately without further notice. A written statement of the cause for termination shall be provided to the staff member as quickly as practical, but the requirements of progressive discipline and the applicable notice periods shall not apply:
· Stealing
· The use or distribution of alcohol and/or illegal substances on property.
The appropriate law enforcement will be notified of any incident related to the possession or distribution of illegal substances on property.
· Reporting to work under the influence of alcohol and/or illegal substances.
· Infraction of verbal or written warning incident
· Willful Insubordination
An employee may be terminated for a serious act of insubordination including, but not limited to, refusal to carry out job responsibilities or refusal to acknowledge the legitimate authority of the supervisor or organization.
· Any form of violence towards co-workers or guests
· Sexual Harassment directed towards co-workers or guests
· Abandonment of position without authorization
· Status Pending Resolution of Criminal Charges:
Depending on the specific circumstances involved, an employee may be placed on leave of absence without pay or leave of absence with pay pending the resolution of a criminal charge. Other personnel action may also be taken when appropriate including, but not limited to, termination.
· Serious Crime:
An employee may be terminated if he/she admits guilt or is found guilty of a serious crime that demonstrates unfitness for continued employment within the University System.
