Mission Statement of UNH-MENC

MISSION STATEMENT of UNH-MENC


(Adapted from Article 2 of the MENC Revised Constitution- March 1998)

The purpose for which the UNH-MENC collegiate chapter is organized and operated is exclusively literary and educational. The purpose of the chapter shall be the advancement of music education. Specifically:

  1. to conduct program and activities to build a vital musical culture;
  2. to ensure that every student shall have access in school to a balanced, comprehensive and high quality program of music instruction;
  3. to improve the quality of teaching, research and scholarship in music;
  4. to promote the involvement of persons of all ages in learning music;
  5. to foster the utilization of the most effective pre-service and in-service preparation of music teachers.

In furtherance thereof, the chapter will hold conferences, meetings and clinics; organize, promote and assist the New Hampshire Youth Band; organize a lesson referral program to give our future teachers valuable teaching experience; provide education outings on and off campus to promote personal growth as music educators; and develop an extensive professional network for our collegiate chapter members.
