Freshman Camp is the University's second oldest organization and has been welcoming first-year students to UNH since 1932. Since then, Freshman Camp has created friendships and memories that last a lifetime. A wide range of individuals come together and enjoy sports, skits, shows, and traditional summer camp activities that make any freshman's transition to college life a blast.

hCollege marks a new chapter in your life and this transition may not be the easiest. Let Freshman Camp give you a head start on acclimating to college life. Freshman Camp is facilitated by upper class students and an executive staff of five. Camp is four days and three nights of good times and energetic activities that allow you to be yourself and love it.

Freshman Camp is a student organization, independent of the University’s First Year Programs/Orientation.

Throughout the four days, freshman meet with discussion groups that address questions concerning UNH academics, class scheduling, roommates, social life, homesickness, university organizations, and any other questions the freshmen might have. This intimate setting is a great way to not only meet and get to know fellow freshman, but also have one or two particular counselors that they can go to while they're at camp and when they get back on campus.g

During Faculty Day, Faculty members from the university join camp for an afternoon to discuss academics and answer questions on an informal basis. This is a golden opportunity for undeclared students to explore all academic fields offered to them at UNH. Declared students can make first contact with professors from their major in a comfortable forum.

Freshman Camp is not only a great way to learn about the University at which you will spend the next four years, but is also a perfect place to create long-lasting friendships. Back on campus, counselors turn into your friends, providing upperclassman that you can look up to for advice and knowledge. UNH's Freshman Camp is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that should not be skipped by any incoming freshman.

tWhat is "Wagon Wheels?" The wagon wheel has been Freshman Camp's logo ever since its existence, but the significance is much more than a logo. The wheel consists of three parts: the rim, the spokes, and the hub. The counselors represent the spokes of the wheel by reaching out and connecting with the freshmen, represented by the rim, with the Exec staff represented by the hub of the wheel. The counselors reaching out to the freshmen is absolutely essential to the proper functioning of camp.
