CALL FOR STUDENT HONORARIA PAPERS

Student members of the American Society of Mammalogists are encouraged to submit manuscripts for the competition of honoraria to be awarded at the 2000 Annual Meeting in Durham, New Hampshire. Participants must not have received the Ph.D. prior to the end of the 1999 summer session and must not have received a previous honorarium from ASM. Three honoraria of $600 are available for the winners of the competition.

Applicants should submit an original and 10 copies of a manuscript on their current research written in the format of an article for the Journal of Mammalogy (please consult a recent issue of the Journal for style or contact a Journal editor for the most recent copy of the "Guidelines for Manuscripts for Publications of the American Society of Mammalogists"). Manuscripts must be single-authored and should not exceed 12 double-spaced pages in length (plus figures, tables, and references). The Honoraria Committee will select the honoraria recipients based upon the originality, quality, and written presentation of the research.

Winners of honoraria will be invited to present their research at the Plenary Session of the Annual Meeting. These platform presentations will be 15 minutes in length (12 minutes for the presentation, 3 minutes for questions).

(phone:814-732-2232 or 732-2500) postmarked before 15 February, 2000. Papers that do not meet the above requirements or are received after the deadline will not be considered. Applicants will be notified of award recipients by 15 March 2000.

Regardless of the outcome of the competition, applicants intending to present a paper at the meeting must complete the usual abstract and registration forms and submit them to the Local Committee before 15 March 2000.
