Welcome to the World Wide Web tour through the Math and Marine Science program here at the University of New Hampshire. We are all a group of twenty- four 10th graders from New Hampshire and Maine who all share two things in common: WeĠre all interested in science and we all like to have fun. Here at M&M, as we call the program, we manage to combine both.

It is a three week course in which we have done everything from volleyball, swimming, and teasing Gregg (you would have to know him), to statistics, computers, and hypothesis testing. It is actually quite intense, but it is a good learning atmosphere, as well as a friendly one, and it has been an experience that none of us will soon forget.

We have studied animals from along the shoreline and have run experiments to see how they react to stimuli from their natural environment. We took a trip to the Isles of Shoals Marine Laboratory off th e coast of New Hampshire and Maine, and studied various things on the island itself, such as tide pools at different elevations, animals from the intertidal and offshore, and we did a transect on the exposed part of the shore (and got quite wet in the pro cess!). We also took various readings of the water column at several sites on the way there in addition to core samples at a couple of the sites. In the mathematics portion of the program, we have learned everything from the ANOVA table, to the infamous Ernst Equation. In our computer class, we have worked with the data we collected, in addition to learning to use the Internet.

The whole group has made some great accomplishments, including this Web Page, which we are all quite proud of. We hope th at you will look through, see what we have done, and enjoy!

Sincerely,

The M&Mers.
